MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2018) â€" Twelve Buffs made it into the scoring column Wednesday night as the Milligan College women's basketball team picked up a big Appalachian Athletic Conference win, 82-57, over Brenau University at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

The win for Milligan evened the season series as Brenau won the previous meeting on Jan. 4, 66-61. Milligan improved to 17-12 (13-10 AAC) having won for the fifth time in the last six games. The Buffs also improved their standing in the league, moving up to sixth in the league, only one game behind Brenau (19-9, 14-9 AAC).

BUFFS DOMINATE FIRST HALF
Milligan scored the first six points of the game and hardly let up from there.
Kaely Gose hit a three to make it 11-3, then
Emily Kiser hit a three two minutes later to make it 18-5. The Buffs led by 17 late in the first quarter and by 23 late in the second quarter before taking a 45-24 lead into the halftime locker room.

Milligan made five 3-pointers in the first half compared to keeping the Golden Tigers scoreless from the perimeter.

Sarah Robinson was instrumental to the first half success as she tallied 10 rebounds, three assists, and a block to go along with six points. She was one of eight Buffs to make it into the scoring column before the break.

BRENAU'S SECOND HALF RUN
Brenau started the second half in much the same way Milligan started the first. By scoring the first 11 points of the third quarter, the Golden Tigers were able to trim the deficit to 10, 45-35, but were never able to get it back to single digits. Milligan responded to the run with a
Mackenzie Raizor 3-pointer as the Buffs outscored the Golden Tigers 16-10 over the rest of the third quarter.

Milligan led comfortably for the entire fourth quarter on the way to securing its second straight win.

LEADERS
Gose had a game high and career high-tying 17 points to go with five rebounds. Robinson earned her sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while also adding three assists and a blocked shot.

Rebecca Maxwell also had a solid night, contributing 11 points.
Teal Davis scored nine, and Raizor and Kiser scored eight apiece.

For Brenau, Ashanti Brown scored 17 while Autumn Dodson scored 16. Milligan held Dodson, one of the top 3-point shooters in NAIA Division II, to a 2-for-6 effort from three. Entering the game, Dodson averaged 3.4 per game which ranked in the top five nationally.

Additionally, Jasmine Knight secured nearly half of Brenau's rebounds with 19 for the game.

It's down to the regular season finale as the Buffs have one more home game left before the AAC tournament. On Saturday, Milligan will celebrate senior day as part of a women's and men's doubleheader against St. Andrews University starting at 2 p.m. Maxwell's career high 21 points led Milligan to a 66-50 win over SAU on the road back on Jan. 13.
