Buffs drop opener at No. 15 Middle Georgia

MACON, Ga. (Feb. 23, 2018) â€" Despite a three-run rally to cut it to a two-run game in the sixth inning, the Milligan College baseball team lost the opening game of a three-game series at No. 15 Middle Georgia State University, 15-3, Friday evening.
 
Milligan fell behind early to the preseason No. 15 MGA club, allowing three runs in the bottom of the first before trailing 5-0 through five innings. In the top of the sixth, the Buffs started to rally by scoring three runs and putting the tying run on base. However, Middle Georgia answered in a big way in the bottom half of the inning by plating 10 runs on five hits.
 
Junior Cameron Harper made the start and went five innings but suffered the loss. He gave up six hits and five earned runs while walking two and striking out two. At the plate, eight Buffs registered a hit, including Jascanel Ferreras who was 2-for-4.
 
Up next, Milligan and Middle Georgia will finish the series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The next home game for the Buffs will be part of a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series starting Friday, March 2, against Montreat College.
