Softball splits home opener DH

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2018) â€" Freshman Kaylee Frascatore's early two run home run in the bottom of the first inning highlighted the Milligan College softball team's second win of the season against Glenville State College on Anglin Field Saturday afternoon. The Buffs dropped game one, 6-3, and came out on top in the second game, 6-2.

Frascatore tallied a total of four RBI's for the day.

EARLY RUNS | GAME ONE

After holding the Pioneers to a scoreless inning in the top of the first, the Buffs found themselves on the scoreboard first. Frascatore's double to deep right centerfield brought 2017 Freshman of the Year Kirstan Beaver home for their first run of the inning while a few walks enabled Frascatore to score for the Buffs' second run.

The Pioneers' Kelsey Naylor responded with a two run home run over the fence in the second inning to tie up the game. Freshman third baseman Savannah Nocera hit a single to left field all the while advancing to third base on a wild throw. Junior second baseman Erica Roller's ground out to first base enabled Nocera to touch home for Milligan's third and final run of the game (3-2).

GLENVILLE'S PUSH | GAME ONE

The Pioneers did not stay behind for long as Glenville's first at bat in the third inning reached first after a bobbled ball and two hits, one to the left field fence and another to shallow center, sent two Pioneers to home base putting Glenville in the lead for good (4-3). Glenville scored two more times, once in the top of the fourth and secondly in the top of the sixth.

MILLIGAN'S SURGE TO THE W | GAME TWO

Despite Glenville's run in the top of the first, Frascatore's two run home run trumped the Pioneers' lead putting Milligan out front early. No runs were scored in the second inning. However, it was only up from there for the Buffs. Milligan scored two more runs in the third after Frascatore's double down the left field line sent Nocera home and first baseman Rachel Coffey's ground out to short allowed Frascatore to advance home (4-1).

Another scoreless inning did not settle with the Buffs as they came back out in the fifth inning forcing three hits and two more runs (6-1). Regardless of Glenville's one run in the seventh inning, Milligan stood their ground not allowing anymore runs in order to seal their victory over the Pioneers (6-2).
