JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 25, 2018) â€" A six-run top half of the first inning decided the series finale between the Milligan College baseball team and Reinhardt University Sunday afternoon at Thomas Stadium. After the two teams split Friday's doubleheader, Reinhardt won the Appalachian Athletic Conference series with a 10-1 win in the finale.

Two Buffs recorded multiple hits, including
Jascanel Ferreras who was 2-for-5 and
Chris Patterson who was 2-for-4.
Clayton Conner (1-for-4) drove in the Buffs' only run with a single to right field in the bottom of the first, but by then Reinhardt was already ahead 6-0.

Milligan (8-18, 4-8 AAC) had several chances to score throughout the game. The Buffs had runners on first and second with two out in the fourth before having runners on first and second with one out in the fifth but came up empty in both frames. Then over the final four innings, they put a runner on with two out but again came up empty in each. Patterson had a two-out double in the sixth and Ferreras had a two-out single in the seventh, but both were left stranded in the inning.

ON THE BUMP
Junior right-hander
Chandler Daniels made the start but was saddled the loss after he gave up a six-spot in the top of the first. He lasted only 1/3 innings and gave up four hits and a walk.

Reliever
Dustin Cole entered the game in the first and went on to pitch the next seven innings, allowing only one unearned run on eight hits and no walks. Cole went perfect through the sixth and seventh before giving up his unearned run in the eighth. Reinhardt then rounded out the scoring with three runs in the ninth off
Jacob Littleton, the majority of which came on a two-out, two-run homer.

Milligan hosts Kentucky Christian University at Anglin Field on Wednesday, March 28. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., and the Buffs will then be on the road for AAC foe No. 9 Bryan College over next weekend.
