GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Sept. 15, 2018) â€"
Dharma Fawbush scored in the first half and
Bekah Cundiff scored in the second half to lead the Milligan College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Brenau University Saturday evening on the road.
ÂÂ
The match marked the first conference win for Milligan this season as the Buffaloes improved to 2-3-1 (1-1 AAC). It also snapped a two-match winning streak for Brenau (2-3-1, 1-1 AAC).
ÂÂ
Fawbush's goal, her first of the season, came off an assist from
Poppy Smith midway through the first half to give Milligan a 1-0 lead. The Buffs carried that lead into the second half, and Cundiff doubled it with her team-leading fifth goal of the season late in regulation.
Alyson McMillan had the assist.
ÂÂ
Brenau cut the lead in half with approximately three minutes left, but it was too late by then as the Buffs secured their first road win in addition to their first conference win.
ÂÂ
Up next, Milligan returns home for an AAC matchup versus Reinhardt University Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m. on Anglin Field. It will be part of Milligan Spirit Week and will be followed by a 7 p.m. men's match.
