Sarah Robinson scored her 1,500th career point, and the Milligan College women's basketball team made easy work of visiting Columbia International University, 90-44, Wednesday evening inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

The win marked Milligan's sixth straight, a feat the Buffs have now accomplished twice this season as they opened the 2018-19 campaign with nine straight wins. Milligan improved to 15-3 (13-1 AAC) and kept pace one game back of Bryan College for the AAC lead.

TOTAL TEAM EFFORT LEADS BUFFS IN WIN
Every Buffalo who entered the game also entered the scoring column with at least one made field goal. Four were in double figures, led by
Hannah Wyrick,
Teal Davis and
Emily Kiser who all had 12.
Emma Kate Brown scored 11,
Kaely Gose followed next with eight, and Robinson and sophomore
Sydney Breeding scored six.

Thirteen Buffs registered at least one of the team's 55 total rebounds, and another 13 registered at least one of the 26 total assists.
Savannah Raizor (eight rebounds) and
Cassidy Anderson (four assists) were the leaders in those categories.

SECOND-QUARTER SURGE, THIRD-QUARTER DEFENSE TELL TALE
Milligan finished the first half on a 15-7 run before holding Columbia International to just six points in the first 10 minutes after the break. In fact, Milligan held CIU scoreless for the first five minutes of the third quarter on the way to putting the game away.

Davis and Wyrick caught fire to lead the Buffs in the second quarter, scoring 3-pointers on back-to-back-to-back possessions to start Milligan's 15-7 run. Crossing into the third quarter, Milligan improved the run to 28-7 by scoring the first 13 points of the second half. Brown hit a three midway through the period to give Milligan a 56-27 lead, its largest of the game until that point.

By the midpoint of the fourth quarter, Milligan had gone ahead by as many as 39 before posting a 46-point win, more than doubling CIU's scoring output.

ROBINSON'S MILESTONE
Robinson's 1,500th point came on the first of two made free throws in the closing minute of the third quarter. She now has 1,501 points, 969 rebounds, 247 assists, 165 steals and 114 blocks for her career.

FOR CIU
No one made it to double figures in scoring, although four Rams scored at least eight. Queeneka Howard led with nine. Jordan Sprueill scored eight points and added a team high seven rebounds. CIU played Milligan to overtime in both teams' AAC opener back in November, but the Rams remained winless at 0-15 (0-14 AAC) for the season.

Milligan hits the road for its next three games, starting with a trip to Laurinburg, North Carolina, for an AAC matchup with St. Andrews University Saturday, Jan. 19, at 12 p.m. The Buffs return home the following Saturday, Jan. 26, to face Reinhardt University at 2 p.m.
