Emma Kate Brown scored a career high 17 points, and the No. 23 Milligan College women's basketball team put together a tremendous second-half effort to overcome Point University, 60-48, Saturday afternoon in an Appalachian Athletic Conference game.

Milligan trailed by four at the halftime break but orchestrated a 13-0 run in the third quarter followed by a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to improve to 10-3 (8-1 AAC). Point, which entered Saturday one game back of Milligan in third place of the conference standings, fell to 8-5 (7-4 AAC). The game featured a couple of reversals in trends as Milligan snapped a three-game losing streak while handing Point its second loss in the last eight games.

SECOND HALF DOMINANCE
Milligan started hot, with made 3-pointers on each of its first two possessions, but the heat quickly faded as the Buffs trailed 27-23 through the first 20 minutes. Nonetheless, they came out of the halftime break again on fire and surged into the lead for the remainder of the contest.

The 13-0 run in the third quarter featured scoring from five Buffs and took the game from 29-23 in favor of Point to 36-29 in favor of Milligan.
Kaely Gose capped the run with a bucket underneath, assisted by
Cassidy Anderson, near the three-minute mark of the third quarter.

Point battled back to cut it to one late in the third, but Milligan's 12-0 run in the fourth put the game away. Again five Buffs were a part of the scoring action in the run, including
Emily Kiser and
Sarah Robinson who hit 3-pointers early in the final quarter.

MILLIGAN LEADERS
Brown was the only Buffs in double figures for scoring, although a balanced attack saw eight others score points. Anderson and Gose both tallied nine; Robinson had seven.

In the rebounding category,
Mackenzie Raizor led Milligan with 10 while Robinson was next with nine.

Milligan's bench outscored Point's bench 22-0.

FOR POINT
Only four Skyhawks made a field goal in the contest, led by Destinee Webster and Nicole Izuagie who both scored 14 points. Webster entered the game No. 6 in NAIA Division II scoring average at 19.4 points per game. Milligan held her to 4-of-16 from the field.
