Baseball suffers sweep at No. 6 Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tenn. (March 30, 2019) â€" Juan Vasquez hit two home runs, but Milligan College's baseball team lost twice Saturday on the way to suffering a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series sweep at No. 6 Tennessee Wesleyan University. Milligan lost Saturday's games 11-1 and 18-1.

Vasquez's home runs both were solo shots, but both came after Milligan was already far behind. In game one, Vasquez provided Milligan with its only run on a homer to left with one out in the sixth. In game two, he led off the fourth inning with another homer to left. It marked his fourth home run of the season and third in as many games.

Tennessee Wesleyan jumped out to early leads and never looked back in both games. The Bulldogs scored six runs across the first three innings of both games before putting up big innings in the fifth (game one) and sixth (game two).

Vasquez and Snaider Torrealba each went 2-for-3 in game one. Four Buffs registered a hit in game two.

Up next, Milligan begins a 10-game home stand Wednesday when the Buffs host Hiwassee College at 4 p.m. on Anglin Field. The Buffs will be home over the next two weekends for more AAC action.
