MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 2, 2019) â€" After a 2-1 loss in game one, the Milligan College softball team bounced back with a 4-2 win in game two to earn a doubleheader split with visiting Montreat College Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field. Sophomore
Neelee Griffith, the reigning AAC player of the week, hit her second home run of the season to swing the lead in the third inning of game two.

Griffith went 1-for-2 in each game, producing an RBI hit in both the loss and the win. In game one, Milligan (14-14, 12-8 AAC) fell behind in the second inning, but Griffith and the Buffs answered back in the fourth by tying the game at 1-1. Griffith hit a laser to left-center field, scoring
Erica Roller on her sixth double of the season.

In game two, Milligan led early but trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the third. This time, Griffith and the Buffs finished off the scoring in the bottom of the third, Griffith hitting a home run to make it 3-2, and
Karsten Miller following with a two-out single to left field to score
Morgan Overholser and make it 4-2.

Freshman
Erin Forgety suffered the loss in game one despite another solid effort and quality start. Forgety threw a complete game, allowing only five hits and no walks while striking out six. She allowed two runs, but only one of them was earned.

Senior
Kassi Butcher earned the win in game two, going the first 5 1/3 innings with six hits, two earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Freshman
Kendyl McCollister relieved Butcher in the sixth and closed the door on the Cavs (20-22, 11-11 AAC), punching out one in a perfect final 1 2/3 innings.

Up next, Milligan hosts No. 23 Tennessee Wesleyan University Friday, April 5, and University of Pikeville Sunday, April 7, back here on Anglin Field. It will mark the end of the Buffs' 12-game home stand, although they have one more home date after that: Saturday, April 13, against Brenau. All dates and times are subject to change, pending weather and field conditions.
