WALESKA, Ga. (April 14, 2024) - Milligan University softball put up a valiant effort but came up short in a doubleheader loss to Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) frontrunner Reinhardt University (Ga.) on Sunday.

The Buffs lost 4-2 and 3-1 to drop to 12-19 overall and 10-14 in conference play.

Milligan is back in action Tuesday when it visits NCAA Division II Carson-Newman University (Tenn.) for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.

Game 1 - Reinhardt 4, Milligan 2

Down 1-0 in the second, Milligan evened the ledger when Laney Loyd scored as Alexis Brown was caught trying to steal second.

Reinhardt pushed a pair of runs across in the third, but Laney scored on a Hannah Bates single to make it 3-2 in the fourth.

The Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to seal the two-run victory.

Loyd went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a double, while Brown also had two hits.

Milligan outhit Reinhardt 7-5.

Game 2 - Reinhardt 3, Milligan 1

Milligan took the early advantage as Brown singled in Mia Grassee in the top of the first. However, the lead was short-lived as Reinhardt tied the game in the bottom of the first.

The Eagles eventually pulled ahead with a two-run fifth en route to the 3-1 outcome.

Brown finished the game with two hits.
