CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Tuesday afternoon, the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) made public the fall standings for the NAIA LEARFIELD Director's Cup following the conclusion of the fall sports seasons.
Points for the LEARFIELD College Directors' Cup are based on each institution's finish at the NAIA National Championships for each respective sport. Milligan University sits tied at No. 10 in the nation after a runner-up finish by women's cross country, an eighth-place national result for men's cross country and a national tournament second-round berth by men's soccer. The Buffs scored 210.50 points this fall.
The Buffaloes women's cross country squad saw a near-perfect performance from their roster in the NAIA Cross Country Championships, where three of their finishers earned All-American status. As part of the team's runner-up result, they earned 90 points for the LEARFIELD Cup Standings.
Ellen-Mary Kearney came away as the individual runner-up, while freshman
Annabelle Stewart ended up in the top 10 at ninth.
Alyssa Bearzi also concluded the event as an All-American, in 30th.
Men's cross country also sped into the NAIA Cross Country Championships, where they leaned on a group performance to nab an eighth-place finish.
Bryson Lewis' 48th-place finish led the way for the Buffaloes as they totaled 70 points toward the LEARFIELD Cup Standings.
After reaching the NAIA First Round as the runner-up of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament, the Milligan men's soccer team went to Austell, Ga. for the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship First and Second Rounds, hosted by Life University. Following a 3-0 win over LSU Alexandria in a dominant performance, the team's season came to an end in the Second Round matchup against the hosting Life team.
The Buffs had the top billing among three Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) institutions that appeared in the top 75 fall standings. Montreat (38th) and Truett McConnell (57th) joined the Buffaloes in the top 75.
The LEARFIELD Director's Cup winter standings will be released on April 3, 2025.
