WALESKA, Ga. – On Saturday, the Milligan University women's soccer program faced off with Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) foe, Reinhardt University away from home. The Buffaloes overcame a two-goal deficit in the second half to come away with a 2-2 tie.
The first half started with a Reinhardt goal in the first eight minutes. Milligan controlled the rest of the half offensively and defensively, not allowing another shot and taking nine of their own with five of them being on frame, but the RU goalie stood tall and did not allow one to pass. The score did not reflect the Buffs effort put forth and they went into the second half trailing by a goal, 1-0.
Reinhardt connected on another goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 2-0. Following the goal, Milligan was able to collect themselves and play with a fire lit underneath them for the rest of the game.
Halle Steele turned the tide with two straight goals in the 67th and 76th minutes of the game. The Buffs continued to apply pressure on the Eagles defense in the closing 15 minutes of the contest, taking five shots over that span, with three of those shots being on goal.
Overall, the Buffs took 18 shots in the game, with 10 of them testing the Reinhardt goalkeeper. Reinhardt took five, with one coming in the first half and four in the second.
Natalie Roper and Steele took six total shots combined with three apiece, while
Katelyn Penner took two and
Sarah Buckner,

Skyler Miller each took one.
Emily Robinson had a slow start in net, allowing the only shot on frame that she faced to reach the back of the net in the first half, but she came away with three saves in the second to secure the tie and her record moves to 2-2-2 on the season.
The Buffaloes will now come back home to Anglin Field for an AAC contest with Bryan College on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m.
