BRISTOL, Tenn. – The No. 2 ranked Milligan University women's cross-country team hosted the Eli Cramer Invitational at Steele Creek State Park in Bristol on Friday evening. The event, honoring Milligan hall-of-famer Eli Cramer, was a 5k race that included the Buffaloes and the King University (Tenn.) Tornado.
Milligan boasted the top 16 times at the meet, including a race victory by
Ellen-Mary Kearney in 18:20.7.
Annabelle Stewart came in second with a mark of 19:10.7, and
Alyssa Bearzi rounded out the top three with her run of 19:24.1
Then,
Kirsten Geary crossed the line in 19:40.1 in fourth place. Karly Wilhjelm and
Patricia Barrera finished just 00:00.4 apart at 19:59.3 and 19:59.7 in fifth and sixth.
Freshman
Kaylee Coll closed out a 20:08.5 run in seventh, while
Ashlyn Haas (20:11.4),
Joanna Halterman (20:18.8) and
Kerigan Lewis (20:20.8) completed the top 10.
Gabriella Hoover (20:39.0),
McKenna Spaulding (21:15.3),
Hope Krell (21:23.6),
Sunny Eorgan (21:26.1),
Megan Haire (21:43.3) and
Cameron Walker (21:49.2) finished the top 16 racers in the field before a King runner finished in 17
th.
Isabelle Johnson and
Kendall Jarvis were the last two MU finishers in 18
th and 19
th at 21:57.3 and 22:23.2, respectively.
On the docket next for the Buffaloes is the App State Firetower Project in Boone, N.C. on Oct. 3. The heavily NCAA Division I event will serve as a litmus test for many of the Milligan squad's top runners with the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships coming just over a month later.
