SAVANNAH, Ga – The No. 13-ranked Milligan University men's bowling team spent the weekend competing in Savannah, Ga. at the NAIA Southeast Open tournaments. The tournament was split between Saturday and Sunday, with the squad finishing in the middle of the pack Saturday but finishing the weekend strong on Sunday.
On day one the Buffaloes notched a sixth-place finish with a total score of 4,637 pins.
Sean Jenkins continued to lead the Milligan group, as he finished in fourth among all individuals. He toppled 1,069 pins across five individual games, averaging a strong 213.8 pins per game to grab All-Tournament honors.
Another Buffalo who was rolling the ball well was
Cameron Shockey. He bowled for 942 pins and averaged 188.4 to finish in 26th place.
Xander Stephens finished in the top half of the top 100 individuals with a final ranking of 45th. After a strong start, he ended up knocking down a total of 818 pins with an impressive average of 204.5 per game.
Ten teams bowled a total of 25 baker games on day two, and the Buffs finished in second place with 5,005 total pins. Milligan posted a tournament-best score of 258 in the 17th game and showed incredible consistency earlier in the day, rolling back-to-back scores of 257 and 256 in the eighth and ninth frames.
Now the team looks ahead to the Hoosier Classic on Feb. 14-15 in Indianapolis before the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships on Feb. 20-21 back in Savannah.
