Buffaloes Competitive Cheer Performs in SSAC Round-up Competition

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  On Friday, Milligan University's competitive cheer squad took part in a pair of regular-season competitions hosted by the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) in Montgomery, Ala. The two competitions on the day were each filled with top-tier cheer talent from the conference. The Buffaloes placed sixth with 73.13 in the first competition and seventh with 72.52 in the second competition. Both the 73.13 mark and the 72.52 mark were over five-point increases in the Buffs' total score (66.97) accumulated in the same competition last year.

In addition to the improved score, Milligan had two team members honored as All-SSAC members in Ramsey Greenwell and Brylee Pennington. Greenwell took on a leadership role for the team this year after being selected as the team captain and worked hard in the offseason on all areas but especially tumbling skills, and that hard work paid off with the All-SSAC honor. Pennington returned to the tournament after earning Rookie of the Year honors last year and exemplified tremendous skills as a flyer to earn All-SSAC honors.

As part of the weekend's festivities, the SSAC also announced the All-Academic Team, which featured Morgan Dyer and Macie Blevins from the Buffs. Madison Laughters was also named the team's Champion of Character.

Saturday's SSAC Championships now loom large for the Buffaloes, as the team used Friday's competitions as tune-ups for the event.
