Five Milligan Softball Student-Athletes Selected for CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the honorees of the Softball Academic All-District Teams. In the NAIA portion, five Milligan Buffaloes were selected to receive the distinction.

Senior infielder Alana Parsons, senior infielder Haley Vigil,  junior infielder Jaylyn Halliburton, junior infielder Jordan Roulettwheeler, and sophomore catcher Mollie Johnson were recognized as part of the 2026 NAIA Academic All-District Team.

Parsons, a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology with a 3.76 cumulative GPA, dominated at the plate in her senior year. She led the team with a .443 average, with 20 of her 58 hits on the year going for extra bases, including five triples and seven home runs. She earned two AAC Player of the Week nods throughout the campaign, highlighted by a perfect six-for-six series against Pikeville in which she recorded a hit in 12 straight at-bats. Overall, Parsons was a threat every time she stepped to the dish, striking out just 12 times in 131 at-bats while driving in 51 for the Buffs.

Vigil, a graduate of Milligan's Child and Youth Development program with a 3.95 cumulative GPA, saved her best for her senior campaign. After hitting .232 a season ago, she raised her average nearly 100 points to .330 across 36 games as the Buffs' primary designated player. She posted career highs across the board, collecting 38 hits, driving in 16 runs, drawing 14 walks, and swiping eight stolen bases on the year.

Halliburton, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing major carrying a 3.6 GPA, turned in the strongest offensive season of her Milligan career in 2026. The first baseman hit .267 across 43 games, starting 42 of them, and collected 35 hits with eight doubles and a home run. She drove in 19 runs and scored 13, serving as a reliable presence in the lineup all season long.

Roulettewheeler, a Child and Youth Development major with a 3.55 GPA, started 40 of 41 games at shortstop in her junior season while also making six appearances in the circle to show her versatility. At the dish, she hit .270 across 115 at-bats, collecting 31 hits with six doubles and 19 RBIs, and drew 14 walks to post a .354 on-base percentage.

Johnson, a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology boasting a 3.88 GPA, was a steady presence behind the plate all season. She started all 39 games at catcher, hit .259 with five doubles, a triple, and 16 RBIs, and struck out just 10 times in 108 at-bats. Her athleticism extended beyond catching, as she showed the ability to slide over to the infield when needed, and made her presence felt on the bases with eight stolen bases on the year.

CSC's Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, voted on by Athletic Communication professionals, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution.
