COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Milligan University women's soccer team traveled east to Columbia College (S.C.) on Thursday afternoon to conclude a partially completed game that was halted due to a severe lightning storm back on Sept. 20. The match was being led by the Buffaloes by a tally of 1-0 with 47 minutes left to be played prior to Thursday, and nothing changed through the remaining minutes, as the Buffaloes notched a 1-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win.

The first half, which was played mostly on Sept. 20, included an early goal from freshman
Bianca Vacirca in the fifth minute of the bout. That gave Milligan the lead, as there was not much action following that in the opening half. Columbia actually held a 6-3 shot edge with the 2:16 left to play in the first half at the time of the contest's suspension. No additional shots were taken in the last 2:16 of the opening stanza.

In the second half, after a very short intermission, a total of four combined shots were added to the tally for the contest. Columbia, again, held the advantage in that category. The Koalas outshot Milligan 3-1 in the second half to hold a 9-4 overall edge. Luckily for the Buffs, the hosts could not find the back of the net, leading to the eventual 1-0 Buffaloes triumph.

Vacirca and
Nikki Shirley were responsible for the two shots on net by the Buffs in the win, while
Sarah Buckner and
Halle Steele added the other pair of shots.

In
Emily Robinson's return to the net, she closed out the contest with four total saves, two of which came after the contest's resumption. Her overall record for the season now stands at 9-3-2.

Milligan conference slate is now over, and they will look forward to learning their place in the AAC Tournament, which will be played from Oct. 28-Nov. 8 at the site of the higher seed in each matchup. Before the tourney, they have one more regular-season bout against non-conference opponent Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Ga. on Oct 25 at 1 p.m.
