JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. – The Milligan University men's bowing team, ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, returned to the lanes on Saturday after the MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial and MSC Thomas Burris Memorial were postponed and shrunk to men's only tournaments. Saturday's Lynne Jordan Memorial ended up being a breakout event for the Buffs' men, who concluded the one-day event with a championship title.
Four team games and eight baker games made up the format for the first of two tournaments this weekend for the Buffaloes.
The first of Milligan's four bowlers in the top 15 was
Sean Jenkins, who continues to bowl impressively in his freshman season. He racked up 878 pins across four team games, averaging 219.5 pins per game. He bowled a stellar 255 in the third game to place ninth as an individual.
Right behind Jenkins was
Aiden Totherow, as he concluded the day with 865 pins in the four games combined. The 216.25-pin average earned Totherow a top-10 finish, as he ended up 10
th as an individual. He bowled for 232 pins in both the second and third game for his tournament-high mark.
Chance McLane continued his strong season, as well, placing 11
th as an individual. He toppled just one fewer pin than Totherow, totaling 864. McLane improved his stock late with 243 pins in the fourth team game, helping out the eventual 216-pin average.
Xander Stephens' 859 pins tied him for 15
th as an individual. The 214.75-pin average was boosted by a 247 in his third team game, which helped him reach the top-15 conclusion.
Cameron Shockey also ended in the top 100 with a 69
th-place finish on 613 pins across three team games.
As a team, Milligan put up the most pins in the team games with 4,294, as well as the most in baker games with 1,862, equaling 6,156 total pins. That total was more than 200 pins greater than any competition at the event.
The Buffs will return to the alley on Sunday, as they look to make it back-to-back titles at the MSC Thomas Burris Memorial.
