WALESKA, Ga. – Braxton Baird has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. He led the Buffs offensively in a lopsided victory over Cumberland (Tenn.) University early in the week and continued to impress in a doubleheader sweep over Union Commonwealth University over the weekend.
Baird sent a ball over the wall for a three-run home run in the mid-week matchup with the Phoenix, resulting in three of his five RBI and one of his three hits in the contest. Later in the week, against the Bulldogs, he went 2-for-4 in the opening game of a doubleheader before blasting a two-RBI double that broke the game open for Milligan in the latter tilt. Overall, Baird went a combined 6-for-10 at the plate with six runs scored and seven RBI in Milligan's three wins on the week.
He will look to continue leading Milligan (28-6, 14-4) offensively, as the team currently sits in third place of the AAC standings with series against Johnson and Montreat—who are both ranked in the top five—still looming on the schedule.
