WALESKA, Ga. – For the second time this season, Milligan University's
Braxton Baird has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Offensively, Baird was the most productive piece of the MU lineup across a 2-2 week against two top-25 national opponents. For the week, Baird (7-for-12, 3 HR, 3 RBI, 8 R, 4 BB) paved the way in the 10-7 win over No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College on Anglin Field, before attempting to will his team to a series win over No. 16 Tennessee Wesleyan on the road. He homered three times in that series and went 5-for-9 overall.
Baird and the Buffs now look forward to their final series of the regular season against the No. 4-ranked Johnson University (Tenn.) Royals on Anglin Field on April 23-24. The winner of the series will become the AAC regular season champion.
