– Milligan University's men's golf team began their 2025 fall season with a trip to the Fincastle Intercollegiate, hosted by Bluefield University at Fincastle Golf & Country Club. Following 36 holes, the Buffaloes closed out their tourney by finishing as the runner-up, behind only the hosting Rams.
Milligan was led by freshman
Evan Caldwell, who acclimated to his first collegiate event nicely. He totaled a seven-over-par tournament with 147 strokes. His opening round was a 75, before he posted an even-par 72 in the second round to finish tied for 10
th position in the individual standings.
Hugo Lundberg, the resident veteran on the squad, placed tied for 12
th after two rounds. His first-round tally of 73 strokes put him in a tie for fifth entering the second day of the tourney, but he golfed a 76 on the second set of 18 holes to finish at +9 on 149 shots.
Just one stroke behind Lundberg was
Manuel Gutierrez, who concluded the proceedings at +10. A 76 in round one, followed by a 74 in the second, put him at 150 strokes in a tie for 15
th with two golfers from Johnson University (Tenn.).
A sophomore,
Hjalmar Liljenberg, finished the event in sole possession of 18
th place. He had a consistent two-round score of 151 strokes, having notched a 75 and a 76 in his two rounds.
Aidan Sinclair rounded out the Milligan 'A' team, shooting a final tally of 152 strokes to tie for 19
th. He had a rough first collegiate round with 78 strokes, but straightened the ship in the second round, shooting a highly respectable 74.

th, +35, 175) concluded the list of Buffaloes who competed at the Fincastle Intercollegiate under the Milligan 'B' team moniker.
Overall, the Buffs finished the event in second place, scoring a +35 overall tally on 595 strokes. They outpaced Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) by two strokes and Bluefield State (W.Va.) by four strokes to hang on to the runner-up slot.
The strong start to the 2025 fall season prepares the Buffaloes to host the East Tennessee Collegiate, hosted by the Buffs at Johnson City Country Club on Sept. 22 and 23.
