JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Milligan University's men's golf team concluded hosting the East Tennessee Collegiate event at Johnson City Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. With 14 teams in attendance, the Buffaloes finished in eighth place, just six strokes behind fifth.
Aidan Sinclair paved the way for the Buffaloes, scoring a tie for 14
th place. He shot a stellar round of 69 strokes on day one, which is three under the course par. His second round ended at two-over-par, with 74 shots taken. Overall, he was under par at -1, having taken 143 strokes.
Conversely,
Evan Caldwell shot a +3 round of 75 strokes on day one, but he countered that with a standout round of 71 to close out the tournament.
Manuel Gutierrez closed the two-day event at three-over-par, notching a pair of similar rounds in the process. He ended up shooting a 74 in the first round, and he followed that up with a one-stroke improvement, at 73 in round two.
Milligan's
Francisco de Bethencourt returned to the links for the Buffs for the first time in the 2025-26 campaign. He shot a 149 to tie for 40
th, scoring an even-par 72 in the first round and a 77 in the second.
Hugo Lundberg also counted toward the team score, shooting 74 and 80 in his two rounds, placing him in a tie for 55
th.

Milligan shot a total of 584 strokes, which ended up eight over the course par for the tourney. They ended up in eighth behind Bluefield by just a single stroke and behind IU Southeast in sixth by just a pair of shots.
Next week, the Buffs' men head to the Upstate Fall Invitational in Greer, S.C., hosted by USC Upstate at Greer Country Club on Sept. 29-30. The squad will look to make steady improvements as we inch closer to the AAC Fall Preview Championship in late October.
